For more than 40 years, the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation has recognized preservation
projects in the state that have made significant contributions to the field of historic preservation. Each year, The Preservation Awards ceremony is held during the weekend of The Georgia Trust Spring Ramble in Columbus, Georgia. Awards are presented based on the contribution of the project to the community and/or state and in compliance with the Secretary of Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. This year, Cassina Garden Club was presented with the award for "Excellence in Restoration of the Hamilton Plantation Tabby Slave Cabins." This award recognizes an accurate restoration project that depicts the form, features and character of a historic building as it appeared at a period in time. Having a record number of nominations this year, this award was quite an achievement for the Cassina Garden Club. cassinagardenclub.org
