The Literary Guild of St. Simons Island recently awarded grants to several local organizations. Safe Harbor was given a grant for their “Fostering Better Readings: Supported Reading” program to purchase books, rechargeable headsets with microphones and e-books for academic use. Grants were also given to Coastal Coalition for Children for their “Bonding Through Books” project, Marshes of Glynn Libraries, St. Simons Branch to support “Baby Storytime,” Glynn County Health Department to continue the highly successful national program, “Reach Out and Read,” locally for the next 12 months, and Golden Isles Arts and Humanities to assist in the purchase and distribution of books related to “The Big Read” program that will take place in winter/early spring 2018.
