GreenScene of Coastal Georgia Eco-Lecture - Update on the Golden Ray
to
Neptune Park Saint Simons Island, Georgia 31522
For over two years the 656 foot long cargo ship known as Golden Ray laid on its side in the St Simons Sound. With over 4,200 automobiles onboard and after a number of setbacks (hurricanes, broken chains, oil spills, etc.) the salvage crew has worked to remove the cut sections of the car carrier. Yesterday marked the removal of the last section of the Golden Ray from the St. Simons Sound.
For this Eco-Lecture, Maggie Vancantfort with Altamaha Riverkeeper and a representative from the Unified Command will provide updates on the removal and pollution cleanup efforts. You are invited to engage in a Q&A discussion regarding the incident and its environmental impact on our beautiful Georgia coast.
Location of the Eco-Lecture has been moved to Neptune Park - under the oaks. Light refreshments will be provided.
