July 5th Beach Sweep
to
East Beach at the Old Coast Guard Station First Street, Saint Simons Island, Georgia
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - July 5th Beach Sweep
KGIB. NEEDS. YOUR. HELP.
Join Keep Golden Isle Beautiful for their first ever July 5th Beach Sweep! With so many local fireworks displays canceled or postponed, they are concerned about an increase of beach litter resulting from Fourth of July nighttime merriment. Volunteers meet at the St. Simons Island Old Coast Guard Station beach crossover at 7AM on Sunday, July 5th to sign in and receive supplies (trash bags and gloves provided). Social distancing and disinfecting protocols will be observed.
While fireworks are prohibited on Glynn County beaches, volunteers will be prepared to remove even the smallest pieces of fireworks debris, preventing possible marine debris that can be harmful to marine life. Several major public access points will also be tackled in the effort.
Contact Keep Golden Isles Beautiful for more information. All ages and abilities are welcome to participate.
