New Year's Eve Shrimp Drop
Downtown Brunswick is bringing back the Shrimp Drop event. Come and join in the celebration at Mary Ross Waterfront Park as we say goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021.
Sometime in the 1980's, downtown Brunswick hoisted the town-named Bob the Shrimp to the top of Mary Ross Park's tower for the first Shrimp Drop event in celebration of New Years Eve. Hundreds gathered to watch as the homemade shrimp made its way down into a pit of red balloons, a less messy alternative to cocktail sauce, to mark the new year. Bob continued to carry the tradition until 2002 and we are bringing him back in 2020.
Beginning at 6:00 PM we will gather together while practicing social distancing to enjoy live music from Squirt Gun and Salt Water Gypseas. There will also be food trucks, craft vendors, and games for the kids. Then just a little before 8:00 PM, we will countdown for the Shrimp Drop and welcome in 2021.
