Running of the Bulls Charity Redfish Tournament

The St. Simons Island - Running of the Bulls Charity Redfish Tournament will take place rain or shine on October 9-10 at Coast Guard Beach. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. in the beach parking lot. First cast will be at 8:00 a.m. daily and lines in at 4:30 p.m. each day. Cash prizes for top 5 adult anglers and fishing/youth-related prizes for youth winners will be based on entries. Prize pools will be announced by September 9th. Registration fees: $65 Adult, $35 Youth (15 and younger). First 30 youth participants receive a FREE Kids Can Fish bait bucket ($25 value). All youth participants must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Social events are planned and will feature raffles, auctions, and giveaways, including a free Kickoff Party on October 8 at Silver Bluff Brewing in Brunswick from 6:30-10:30 p.m. with music, food trucks, and great drinks. There will be an Awards Ceremony & Raffle Extravaganza in The Tree Bar at Bennie’s Red Barn on St. Simons Island from 6:00-11:00 p.m. on October 10.
Running of the Bulls Charity Redfish Tournament
Tournament rules: All adult anglers must possess a current Georgia Saltwater Fishing License and abide by state fishing guidelines. This is NOT a team event. Single anglers only unless an adult is assisting a youth angler. Youth anglers are encouraged to do most of the work. It’s recommended that youth anglers to remain in shallow waters and wear personal floatation devices. Youth must be strictly monitored if entering the surf. Adults can cast for youth and are also permitted to take fish off the hook and prepare for release. Youth are encouraged to bait their own hooks, but can be assisted by an adult. Adult parter can hold the rod at base, but youth must reel in the fish. Fighting belts are permitted. Tournament zones must be adhered to and will be determined by participant numbers.
Scoring: Qualifying fish are recorded by Catch, Photo, and safe Release. Tournament official must record each fish. Total length decides winner. Most spots determine tie breaker. Leaderboard will be updated in real time via the group Facebook page.
Equipment: Boats, kayaks, and air delivery of bait are prohibited. 2 rods per person maximum. Live, frozen, and artificial baits are permitted. Only circle hooks can be used.
