LECTURE 2 - AUGUST 17
Colin Woodard - The Republic of PIrates: Blackbeard and the Real Pirates of the Caribbean.
Best-selling author Colin Woodward will take us back in time to the Golden Age of Pirates, when renegade seamen set up a colony in the Caribbean and preyed upon merchant ships along the Atlantic Coast. The 2014 primetime television series "Crossbones" was based on his book about Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard. One of Georgia's barrier islands was named for the fearsome rogue.
Lectures will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the A.W. Jones Heritage Center Event Hall. The cost for the series is $50 for members and $95 for non-members. Visit coastalgeorgiahistory.org or call 912.634.7090 to register.
2017 series is sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors.
