In this segment of Foundation Focus, the Davis Love Foundation (DLF) continues its partner and charity spotlight with a look at its partnership with Southeast Georgia Health System and its Foundation. Last month, DLF began this series with a look at The RSM Classic Charity Putting Challenge.
Each May, the nation celebrates National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week. We couldn’t think of a more appropriate time to spotlight the meaningful partnership between the Davis Love Foundation and Southeast Georgia Health System and its Foundation. It’s also the perfect opportunity to thank the men and women who are on the front lines of health care every day.
The partnership between the two organizations began in 2010, the first year of The RSM Classic (then McGladrey Classic), when the Health System signed on as the tournament’s Official Medical Provider. The Health System operates medical stations and provides a Wellness on Wheels mobile vehicle at the tournament to serve players, volunteers, and spectators requiring medical assistance.

In 2020, Southeast Georgia Health System provided invaluable expertise and guidance as they worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the PGA TOUR and tournament leadership to develop COVID-19 safety and testing protocols for players, caddies, staff, and Pro-Am participants. “We had an extremely efficient and effective operation due in large part to the expertise of the medical professionals at Southeast Georgia Health System,” said Tournament Director Todd Thompson.
In addition, the Southeast Georgia Health System Foundation is one of the community non-profits that benefit from charitable dollars raised through the tournament. The goal of the Health System Foundation is to create awareness and support for the community. The impact of donations can be seen in all aspects of the Health System including its Brunswick Campus Master Renovation & Expansion Project. There are countless examples of compassion, stories of hope, and simple gifts of gratitude that enhance and sustain health care in our community making it a far better place to live.
