The wonderful and colorful work of Glynn County K-12 students returns to the Ritz Theatre Gallery when the Annual Student Art Show opens on First Friday, December 1, from 5-8 pm.
The exhibit features hundreds of art pieces in every medium made by creative K-12 students. “We look forward to this exhibit every year,” says Heather Heath, executive director, Golden Isles Arts and Humanities. “It is so bright and imaginative, and really adds to the festive holiday season. The talented work of these young artists is an inspiration.”
Also on First Friday, The G/A Drama Buddies will be performing their Jingle Bell Jam and Golden Isles Brass will take the stage performing holiday tunes. The ensemble features Ed Jackson, Don Davis, Mike Morgan, Mickey Wendel and Mike Bradberry.
The Annual Student Art Show will be on display from December 1 - through January 26 and can be seen Tuesday -Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. or by appointment or during events. (Please note: The Ritz Theatre will be closed December 18 – January 1 for the holidays.)

Works on display in Anderson Fine Art Gallery include an outstanding group of professional and emerging artists and offers landscapes, still life, and some non-representational works. The Annual Holiday Art Show will open Friday, November 17 and remain on display through the holiday season. Small scale paintings from various career artists will be available for gift giving or collecting for yourself! Anderson Studio Gallery - 100 Sylvan Drive, Suite 170
Anderson Studio Gallery, formerly known as the Artists Annex, located right around the corner from Anderson Fine Art Gallery, is now a remodeled gallery, featuring pop-up exhibits and is the location for the many workshops hosted by Anderson Fine Art Gallery. These workshops have been held for more than 15 years and are taught by professional artists from across the country who come to the island to instruct fellow painters. Who's the Prettiest
In 2023, Hotel Simone launched an Artist in Residence program in partnership with the local community arts center Glynn Visual Arts (GVA). GVA is the oldest arts organization in the area and serves more than 400 members. Their mission is to enrich the community by stimulating interest and participation in the visual arts. GVA provides St. Simons Island and the broader Golden Isles community with a center for creative expression, a source of art education, and a showcase for locally and nationally celebrated art and artists. The Artist in Residence October 1-December 31 is Liz Holm. This will be the final artist of the 2023 series.
Born and raised in the Swedish archipelago, Liz Holm has fostered a deep appreciation of the ocean and the natural beauty of the coastline. Since moving to Georgia nearly three decades ago, the Golden Isles have provided endless inspiration that admirers will see translated into her paintings, focused mainly on landscapes, seascapes, and birds. An admirer of shadows, reflections, and light, Holm has loved painting all her life. It wasn’t until 2021 when she discovered watercolors that she became more deliberate in her artistic efforts. Although predominantly self-taught, Holm credits local artist Sherry Egger as instrumental in her art education.
Holm’s works will be on display through December 31 and can be viewed daily during normal business hours in the lobby of Hotel Simone, located at 1200 Ocean Blvd., St. Simons Island, Georgia 31522. More than 30 vendors both indoors and out will provide holiday shopping galore during the Holiday Market Craft Fair at Lord of Life Lutheran Church on St. Simons Island. From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., you’ll find quality handmade items including art, pottery, jewelry, ornaments and holiday décor, specialty soaps, accessories, and many other gift ideas at the Market. The church will host its bake sale, used book sale, and offer coffee and breakfast snacks as well as lunch. Raffle prizes include restaurant gift cards and specialty gift baskets.
