Everyone in the Golden Isles knows that October is college football time and, for most of us, that means one thing … UGA Bulldog football! This month EIL put together a lively “pre-game cocktail party” to showcase mouthwatering menu items and cute as a button game day fashion. Here are some ideal ways to have a get-together that is both stylish and full of Bulldawg spirit! Goooooo Dawgs! Sic ‘em! Woof! Woof!

Cheers for Game Day - Hair of the Dawg
Drink service on a gorgeous wooden tray (comes with stand), like this one from Indigo & Cotton, makes carrying and post-party clean up a snap. The bulldog figurine is from Gentlemen Outfitters and The 19th Hole graciously supplied the all the spirits seen on these pages.
Mixology wizards Karen Friend and Jennifer Anderson at The Pub at Village Inn created custom specialty drinks for a UGA game day party that you can also make at home. A nice touch for the party is a cocktail menu written in calligraphy to let your guests know what libations they’re drinking.
The Hair of The Dawg
Ingredients:
2 oz. Deep Eddy's Cranberry Vodka
2 oz. lemonade
Dash of red food dye
Black sugar (1 drop black dye + sugar)
Directions:
Rim cocktail glass with lemon and dip in sugar. Fill glass with ice and add vodka, lemonade, and a drop of red dye. Stir with straw to mix the color.

Team Spirit
Protect your game day garb by using trimmed dinner napkins in your team’s colors like these by Dot and Army. Cutie Patooties did the monogram embroidery.
If you couldn’t make it out to the game or a tailgate party of your own, Boz at Gnat’s Landing always had the game on, a cold brew and a pimento sandwich just waiting for your order. He shared his recipe with us back in 2007, and we’re passing it along now in memory of his game day loving spirit.
Boz’s Game Day Pimento Cheese
Ingredients:
1/2 lb. sharp cheddar, grated
1/2 lb. extra sharp white cheddar, grated
4 roasted red peppers
1 c. mayonnaise
8 oz. Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
Hot sauce, white pepper and blackening seasonings to taste
Directions:
Mix and refrigerate. Use for sandwiches or to top crackers. Makes enough for a party!
THANK YOU to Janet Brown of Festive Occasions for a game day spread and festive florals that would make any party a hit; to The Pub at Village Inn for creating our colorful cocktails; to our fantastic hair and make-up styling team of Mary Kicklighter and Beth Kicklighter Hall of Elizabeth Lee Makeup for working their magic once again; and especially to Miss Lil for opening her beautiful home to us and Beverly for trusting that our chaos could be controlled.

Oh, the Places We Go!
We shot this month’s photo spread at this classic Sea Island Mediterranean-style marshfront residence set beneath a canopy of great oaks. Designed and decorated by Johnny Shackelford, this West 20th Street cottage offers three master suites, four guest rooms and a bunk room that sleeps 12, a media room, a gourmet kitchen with butler’s pantry, a large dining room with rough-hewn ceiling beams, a negative edge pool with hot tub, large screened porch with fireplace, crabbing dock over a tidal creek, and the most fabulous view of sunsets over the marsh. It’s a perfect home for entertaining. Call Freddy Stroud at 912.369.1144 for more information.
