Smiles and hugs were the order of the day as 75 local veterans of WWII, Korea and Vietnam and their 75 guardians flew to Washington, DC, for a day of reflection, remembrance and camaraderie. The May flight included visits to all veteran memorials in the U.S. Capitol. When they returned home, 700 citizens gave them a rousing heroes’ welcome at the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport. Coastal Georgia Honor Flight is free to veterans and made possible by generous donations from local companies and individuals. For more information, visit coastalgeorgiahonorflight.org.
