ICE, ICE, BABY

Creating Elegant Island Living’s cover shot each issue is a labor of love.
Sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate. Sometimes the process is time consuming. Sometimes too many people are involved in getting that perfect shot. But it always involves creativity and passion, and it is never boring.
For this issue, our New York-based art director had a chilling vision, after accidentally overhearing a Vanilla Ice track in an elevator. The concept was then plugged in to the prestigious EIL Think Tank 3000™, where brainstorming sessions and computer generated mock-ups ensued. We then called Chef David Ouimet of Purple Sage Catering and Chris Johnson of Johnson Pictures, Inc., to ask if they were up to the challenge of creating a unique ice sculpture and cover shot for our January issue. They both jumped at the chance.
The trip to Snowsouth in Meridian, GA was filled with excitement. Snowsouth is an ice factory, formerly the Sea Garden Seafood company, owned and operated by the Amason family for generations. With the help of Andy Amason, family and crew, the plan as they say, came together beautifully.
