Dogs know a thing or two about living life to the fullest. Whether they’re romping in the surf at the beach or rolling over for belly rubs, our canine companions tend to savor each moment life gives them. Here are five ways our pups live that we should follow.
Love unconditionally.
Dogs love without expecting anything in return, and we should all do more of that!
Express gratitude.
Being happy comes down to focusing on what you have, rather than what you don’t. Obviously, the last 8 months have been a challenge. Yet, every time you feed your dog, they react like it’s the first time they’ve ever seen food. Dogs remind us that even though something may be routine, we should always take time to appreciate things.
Don’t judge.
Dogs don’t judge people based on skin color, gender or anything else. What dogs rely on when separating the good humans from the bad ones are simply people’s personality traits and actions.
Be forgiving.
Have you ever accidentally stepped on your dogs paw? You feel terrible, yet your canine companion seems to forget about it after just a few seconds. Dogs really are one of the most forgiving species out there. We humans could learn a thing or two from dogs about forgiveness and letting go of grudges.
Love thy neighbor.
And thy neighbor’s neighbor. Dogs never meet a stranger. They are always open to meeting other dogs and people. Take your dog for a walk and you are guaranteed to meet a neighbor.
Dogs are always there to remind us to focus on the “pawsitive.” Even if it’s something small that brings us joy. After all, things can’t be too bad when your pup rolls over and gives you a lookfull of love that says, “I’ll take a belly rub!”
