When you or a loved one is in need of health care, traveling to get that care can be a heavy additional burden. This is a real issue in rural areas of Georgia, where several hospitals have closed or significantly reduced services since 2013. Understanding the urgency of protecting rural health care, the Georgia General Assembly enacted the Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program. Now Georgia taxpayers can make a direct impact on local health care and receive a rare dollar for dollar tax credit. Here in our community, Southeast Georgia Health System Camden Campus qualifies for the program. Without spending any extra money, individuals and businesses can direct their tax dollars to benefit local health care through the Southeast Georgia Health System, helping to maintain these important services for rural residents. Applications are available online and only take a few minutes to complete.
