The Board of Directors of the St. Simons Land Trust recently named Emily Ellison as their new Executive Director of the Land Trust. Ellison has served as the Development and Communications Director of the Land Trust for nearly two years. She replaces Ben Slade, who was named Interim Executive Director of the organization in July, following the resignation of David Pope. Ms. Ellison has been a nonprofit executive for more than twenty years. She was the visionary and co-founder of the Atlanta Girls’ School and served as the President and Executive Director of Literacy Action. Before moving permanently to Saint Simons Island with her family in 2015, she was the CEO of the YWCA of Greater Atlanta. Slade is now serving as a volunteer consultant to the Land Trust including chairing an ad hoc committee focused on access to the waterfront at Guale Preserve. sslt.org
