Caleb Hickox
EIL has taken on an intern this summer. We’re pleased to introduce Joshua Caleb Hickox. We met Caleb when we were working on the Candlelight Carnival for the Golden Isles Career Academy (GICA). Caleb showed excellent initiative, designing t-shirts, making booths, and helping whenever asked. We were thrilled when he expressed an interest in working with us on the production of the magazine and have immediately set him to task. We’ve asked him to share a little of his background with our readers so you all can get to know him too.
So, here’s an intro to Caleb in his own words:
“I took mostly honors classes throughout my high school career with a few electives. I always enjoyed drawing, writing, and anything that was creative to pass the time, so I jumped at the chance to do the real thing at the local career academy. I started my internship there after 2 semesters of introductory classes in Graphic Design, and set the bar for future interns much higher than when I arrived.”
He explains, “The very first month of my internship at GICA, I worked with Elegant Island Living on a rather large fundraiser on the Island, called Candlelight Carnival. It was a huge success, making quite a bit of money for the GICA Foundation, and helped get my name out there as far as design work went. My internship at GICA helped open a lot of doors for me, it gave me more opportunities right out of the gate with design than I would have had if I had tried to go it alone.”
Of his future, Caleb says, “I plan on pursuing a degree in Game Design with the knowledge I attained from my internship, as well as a degree in Fashion Design.”
