Dreams will soon come true without having to look somewhere over the rainbow, or even outside the Golden Isles. At a recent elegant “Under the Tent” event, the College of Coastal Georgia shared its plans and unveiled renderings for a beautiful new—and much needed—Center for the Arts on its Brunswick campus. Thanks to the Glynn County Board of Education and the residents of Glynn County, $20 million was secured from the successful 2015 ESPLOST referendum to fund the Center for the Arts construction. Target completion date for the project is October 2025.
The Center will feature an auditorium with professional-level acoustics that will seat approximately 1,000 guests. The Center will provide ample space to accommodate musical concerts, dance performances, lectures, meetings, and other community events. A performing arts center of this quality demonstrates our community’s commitment to encouraging creativity and a desire to enrich lives with the beauty found in art and culture. It will not only be a valuable performance space for local entertainers and community arts organizations, but it will also be an attractive venue to draw outside talent to perform here.
An additional $17 million is needed to enhance and sustain the Center. The college is seeking community support and offering naming opportunities and other benefits for Founding Friends who pledge their commitment to the project. You’ll be helping to build something that nurtures creativity and strengthens the cultural heritage in the Golden Isles while significantly advancing our community’s economic viability, intellectual capacity, and aesthetic appeal for generations.
Stories, music, and performances can shape culture and have a lasting impact. Providing a venue for unforgettable experiences that will resonate for years to come is invaluable.
