Whether you’re looking to learn more about your heart health, schedule a cancer screening or simply discover new ways to live well, the upcoming Community Wellness Fair in Brunswick offers an easy way to take the next step toward better health. Hosted by Southeast Georgia Health System, the free event is designed to educate, empower and connect the community with health resources that support healthier living. Attendees will have access to free screenings, wellness information and medical professionals—all in one convenient location.
Health Experts and Community Resources
Throughout the event, physicians, specialists and representatives from local health organizations will be available to answer questions and share information about services for both children and adults. From prevention and early detection to treatment and support services, the fair is designed to help families make informed health care decisions and connect with resources available across the community.
Free Health Screenings – No Appointment Needed
Visitors can take advantage of numerous free screenings without an appointment, including blood pressure, skin cancer checks, and body fat analysis. One of the most popular screenings is expected to be the InBody body composition analysis. In less than one minute, this fast, noninvasive and accurate test goes beyond the scale to show how much muscle, fat and water make up your body—offering a more complete picture of overall health and potentially changing the way you see your weight.
Free and Low-Cost Screenings – Appointment Requirements Vary
The Wellness Fair will also feature several specialized screenings and consultations designed to help attendees better understand and manage their health.
Heart Health Screening
A free Heart Health Screening, which includes an electrocardiogram (EKG) and lipid profile, will be available for participants interested in learning more about their cardiovascular health. Participants receiving a lipid profile are encouraged to fast for 12 hours beforehand. Results will be mailed to participants. While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins may be accepted as availability allows.
Medication Reviews
Licensed pharmacists will provide free one-on-one medication reviews. Community members are encouraged to bring all prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplements in their original containers to discuss possible side effects, dosage concerns, or interactions. No appointment is required.
Prostate Screenings
Men age 40 and older—or those with additional risk factors—can receive a free prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test. This screening measures PSA levels, which may detect potential prostate concerns. A physician will review the results to determine whether additional testing may be needed; participants will receive their results by mail. While appointments are required, walk-ins may be accepted as availability allows.
Breast Cancer Screenings
Mammogram screenings will be available through the Health System’s Wellness on Wheels (WOW) vehicle. Most insurance plans are accepted, and financial assistance is available for qualifying patients. Walk-ins are welcome, though appointments are encouraged. Screening results will be mailed to participants.
Teddy Bear Clinic
Children can bring one of their stuffed dolls or animals to receive a check-up and some tender loving care for injuries, such as missing buttons or tattered arms and legs. Health System team members will demonstrate a variety of medical treatments a child may encounter at the doctor’s office or hospital, such as vital sign checks.
