Pierce & Parker Senior Designer Lori Harden credits her grandmother and mother for instilling her love for interiors.
“My grandmother and mother had such a sense of design. I can remember going to the furniture store at Rich’s in Atlanta with them when I was a young girl and just being fascinated,” Lori shares.

Originally drawn to fashion merchandising, Lori wanted to go to New York, become a buyer, and design clothes after college. Lori’s mom, however, noticed a gift in her daughter.
“My mom essentially said I don’t know if fashion’s what you should do,” Lori explains.
“I was very thankful for that wisdom from my mom because she saw something in me that I really didn’t see—and I’m so glad she did because I have loved every minute of it.”
Lori met Jack and Fran Pierce, founders of Pierce & Parker, through Macon Interior Designer Bonnie Dowling, where Lori interned when she returned home during college breaks. Dowling called her friend Jack Pierce on behalf of the young college graduate when Lori graduated from UGA with a degree from the College of Home Economics, now called the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.

“Jack said to come on down,” shares Lori, “so I started my job at Pierce & Parker on St. Simons Island July 5, 1985.” Lori has worked for Pierce & Parker on and off since she was 21 years old, with breaks to focus on her family and raise her children.
