2016 Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run
to
Sidney Lanier Bridge/Park 1 Conservation Way, Brunswick, Georgia 31520
The 2016 Bridge Run will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13, 7 a.m.-noon, and as in years past, a record number of runners, walkers and spectators are expected. Vendors, sponsors and volunteers play a key role in the success of the event, which benefits the Health System cancer care programs. The event also includes a Pasta Party and Runners Expo on Friday, Feb. 12, from 5-8 p.m.
With more than 2,500 attendees, one of the biggest challenges can be finding enough dedicated, energetic volunteers to ensure the event runs smoothly. Volunteers are needed both Friday and Saturday to provide assistance with set-up, food and water stations, parking, t-shirt and runner packet distribution, clean-up and more. The fun and excitement of the Bridge Run is not just limited to the actual participants--as awesome as the Bridge Run is, it could not be a reality without the many sponsors, vendors and volunteers who come together to make it a wonderful community event.
The Runners Expo offers sponsors and vendors an opportunity to share their products, from food to sports gear, face painting to motorcycles. Sponsor and vendor booths are located next to the awards stage and food tents for easy access and optimal exposure.
Unique among bridge runs, the event takes place entirely on the 7,780-foot long Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick, Ga. At its center, the bridge measures 480 feet high above the Brunswick River, the tallest span in the state. Certified by the U.S. Track and Field Association as “the toughest 5K in Georgia,” the course is sufficiently difficult to entice professionals and experienced amateurs, and manageable enough for walkers of all ages to enjoy.
