2023 African American History Festival

The 2023 African American History Festival opens to the public at 10am and comes to an end at 3pm. There will be Exhibitor Tables representing groups and sites from around Coastal Georgia open to the public and trolley service will run between Fort Frederica National Monument and The Harrington School for the duration of the festival.

LaTanya Abbott-Austin will give remarks on Robert S. Abbott as a representative of the Abbott Family at 12 noon. Following that, at 12:30pm, Melanie Zeck of the Library of Congress will give a presentation on the history of the Ring Shout and hold a discussion with Griffin Lotson of the Geechee Gullah Ring Shouters. The Geechee Gullah Ring Shouters will be providing a performance of the Ring Shout at 1:30pm.
