The 2026 Golden Isles Alzheimer's Walk is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Neptune Park on St. Simons Island. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 10:00 a.m. and the walk at 10:30 a.m.

The Golden Isles Alzheimer's Walk is a family-friendly community event that brings together individuals, families, businesses, churches, civic organizations, schools, and community groups to raise awareness and funds for dementia support, education, and research.

Participants may choose between a one-mile or two-mile walk through the beautiful St. Simons Village area. The event will also feature Memory Lane, a special tribute area where participants can honor and remember loved ones affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

Proceeds from the walk benefit Memory Matters, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and enriching the lives of individuals living with dementia and those who care for them. A portion of the proceeds will also support dementia research through the Goizueta Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at Emory University.

Businesses and organizations are encouraged to create walk teams as a meaningful way to build camaraderie, promote community involvement, and demonstrate support for local families affected by dementia. Teams can be formed by companies, churches, schools, clubs, neighborhoods, and other groups. Individuals are also encouraged to participate by joining an existing team or creating one of their own.

"Every step taken during the Golden Isles Alzheimer's Walk helps provide hope, support, and resources for families navigating the dementia journey," said Julie Tharpe, Executive Director of Memory Matters. "Whether you walk as an individual, form a team with friends or coworkers, or sponsor the event, your participation makes a difference right here in our community."
