Cinema Gourmet, Golden Isles Arts & Humanities’ popular series pairing delicious food with classic films, continues its season of food, talk & film on Thursday, November 14, with Walt Disney’s second animated feature film, Pinocchio. The film’s screening and discussion are paired with the culinary delights of Chef Judah Lynch and Indigo Coastal Shanty. The evening’s events begin with delicious food at 6:30 p.m.
Pinocchio is an animated musical comedy fantasy adventure film and was released in 1940. Based on the Italian book The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, which is the second most translated book in the world, with over 300 translations, the film stars a puppet - brought to life by a fairy - who tries to earn his right to become a real boy, as he faces the challenges and dangers of a dark, hostile world of crooks, villains, and monsters. Featuring such classic songs as “I’ve Got No Strings,” “Hi Diddle Dee Dee” and “When You Wish Upon A Star,” Pinocchio has been widely considered by many film historians and critics to be one of the greatest animated motion pictures ever made.
Seating is limited for the food, talk and movie, so audience members are encouraged to purchase their tickets early. The deadline for buying tickets (that include the meal) for Pinocchio is midnight on Monday, November 11. Tickets are $20/person and can be purchased by phone with a credit card or in person at the Ritz Theatre, Tuesdays through Fridays 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Tickets may also be purchased securely online at www.goldenislesarts.org. Tickets for the talk and movie only may be purchased at the door the night of the screening for $7.
