The Brunswick Fire Foundation in partnership with the Brunswick Fire Department proudly presents the Inaugural Memorial Stair Climb on Saturday, September 13th.
9/11/2001…24 years ago our country was shocked by the devastating attacks on the Twin Towers in New York. On that fateful day, hundreds of FDNY Firefighters rushed to the scene and many began that arduous climb to rescue those in danger on the affected floors. Each year firefighters from all over this great country gather to commemorate the selfless acts of these Heroes. Although the exact location they ultimately reached is unknown, we climb the 120 flights it would have taken to reach the top of the WTC. We climb the distance for them because we know they never would have stopped. The tragic events of September 11, 2021, claimed the lives of 343 firefighters.
The Brunswick Fire Foundation would be honored to have members of Glynn County and surrounding communities join them in honoring these fallen heroes by climbing the 120 flights of stairs at Glynn County Stadium. You will be joined by some of the finest firefighters in the area climbing these 120 flights in full gear. You will get an inside look at the effort these firefighters were putting forth to rescue those in need. This really is a once in a lifetime time opportunity to pay tribute to the 9/11 Heroes and challenge yourself. In the process, you will be supporting The City of Brunswick Firefighters through the Brunswick Fire Foundation.
You may make the climb alone, as a 5-person team or be accompanied by a local firefighter for part of your journey. This is a profession built on selflessness, sacrifice, family, community, togetherness and love, so give a few hours of your Saturday…You will not be disappointed!
Whether you’re a first responder, a supporter, or a spectator, this powerful tribute is open to all. Join them at Glynn Co. Stadium as they climb in tribute to the heroes of 9/11 and honor the courage and sacrifice of our first responders.
