to
One Hundred Miles 1312 Newcastle St., City of Brunswick, Georgia 31520
Sapelo Island is known as the birthplace of modern ecology—a hotbed of marine ecological research and where UGA’s Dr. Eugene Odum developed theories that shaped today’s knowledge of how different species interact with each other. Join One Hundred Miles to hear how his lab has turned into world-renowned field destination that supports research and education in coastal ecosystems. Dr. Damon Gannon, Assistant Director of University of Georgia Marine Institute, will share the history of the Institute and the fascinating salt marsh research being conducted today. Dr. Gannon will talk about this fascinating research, including tales of farmer snails, seagoing alligators, and crooning fish. It’s a great way to learn about our coastal ecosystems and the vast history of research on our coast. Free and open to the public, but advance registrations required! https://secure.onehundredmiles.org/page/s/Nat101LectureMar2019BWK
