‘NIGHT, MOTHER
SoGlo Art Gallery - Brunswick Actors' Theatre 1413 Newcastle Street, Brunswick, Georgia 31520
‘NIGHT, MOTHER is a 1983 Pulitzer Prize winning play by Marsha Norman. Jessie’s father is dead, her marriage ended in divorce, her absent son is a petty thief, her last job didn’t work out and, in general, her life is stale. As the evening unfolds Jessie sets about tidying the house and making a list for her mother of things to be looked after and we discover what has brought her to this point in her life. This eloquent and ultimately shattering play explores the final moments in the life of woman who has decided that it is no longer worth living.
CAUTIONS: Strong adult themes and may not be suitable for younger audiences or those with PTSD. If this were a movie it would be rated PG-13.
