Special Presentation of ‘NIGHT, MOTHER
to
SoGlo Art Gallery - Brunswick Actors' Theatre 1413 Newcastle Street, Brunswick, Georgia 31520
In recognition of September as National Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month, Brunswick Actors Theatre & The Island Players present a special joint presentation of ‘NIGHT, MOTHER, a play by Marsha Norman, with proceeds to benefit Suicide Awareness Programs. 8pm Friday & Saturday, 3pm matinee Sunday.
In this 1983 Pulitzer Prize winning play by Marsha Norman, Jessie’s father is dead, her marriage ended in divorce, her absent son is a petty thief, her last job didn’t work out and, in general, her life is stale. As the evening unfolds Jessie sets about tidying the house and making a list for her mother of things to be looked after and we discover what has brought her to this point in her life. This eloquent and ultimately shattering play explores the final moments in the life a woman who has decided that life is no longer worth living.
CAUTIONS: Theatrical use of gun shots, strong adult themes and may not be suitable for younger audiences or those with PTSD. If this were a movie it would be rated PG-13.
Good night mother
