Summer Classic Movies at The Ritz: "The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long"

The final film in this year's series is "The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long." Wear your favorite costume from this Rodgers & Hammerstein cinematic treasure to sing-along to your favorite songs to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of this Best Picture winner. In this true-life story, Julie Andrews lights up the screen as Maria, a spirited young Austrian woman who leaves the convent to become a governess for Captain von Trapp's (Christopher Plummer) seven unruly children. Her charm and songs soon win the hearts of the children and their father. But when Nazi Germany unites with Austria, Maria is forced to attempt a daring escape with her new family.

MTR Real Estate will serve free, freshly popped popcorn in the lobby while it lasts. Door prizes for the series are being provided by downtown businesses, Last Ride Ghost Tours, The Farmer and the Larder, Color Me Happy, Golden Isles Brew Supply, Indigo Coastal Shanty and the Downtown Development Authority.

Filmgoers are encouraged to come in costume or dress up to channel their inner von Trapp. Secret judges will select their favorite at each movie screening to win a special prize. Buy your ticket at the Ritz box office beginning at 5 p.m. on show night and take it to Fox’s Pizza Downtown for 10 % off your bill and priority dining to get you back in time for the movie. Fox’s will also be hosting movie-related trivia contests each night of the series. Additionally, ticket holders can show their tickets at Tipsy McSway’s for one free draft beer after the show.
