Golden Isles Arts & Humanities - The Ritz Theatre 1530 Newcastle St., Brunswick, Georgia 31520
Golden Isles Arts & Humanities is proud to present The Whole Gamut Studio at The Ritz Theatre—an exhibit of the whimsical and unique works of pottery, glass work and paintings by popular local artists Barry and Cary Knapp. The exhibit will open with a community open house and reception during the First Friday celebration on July 3, 5-8 p.m. at the Historic Ritz Theatre in Downtown Brunswick.
The Knapps own The Whole Gamut Studio on St. Simons Island, where they have lived for more than 20 years. Barry is a retired art teacher who has taught grades kindergarten through 12 in Indiana, California, Iceland, England, Cuba and Germany. He has also taught art for Job Corps. While he enjoys all types of art, his main concentrations are pottery and glass blowing and he often combines the two for one-of-a-kind pieces. Cary has spent decades as a librarian and is currently working at the College of Coastal Georgia's Gould Library. Cary paints decoratively on wooden bowls, an aspect of The Whole Gamut Studio she calls "Bowled Over." She has also expanded into painting her colorful subjects on canvas.
The exhibit will remain on display through July 25. Gallery hours are Wednesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and during performances. Admission to all art exhibits at The Ritz Gallery is free.
