On Saturday, May 18, Historic Harrington School Cultural Center will be conducting a program of stories called “This is My Dirt: Stories of St. Simons Island and Coastal Georgia.” The digital stories focus on the history of African American cemeteries on St. Simons Island and are based on interviews conducted by Mercer University students in collaboration with the St. Simons African American Heritage Coalition. The guest speaker is Dr. Daina Ramey Berry, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and the Oliver H. Radkey Regents Professor of History, University of Texas at Austin. The presentation will take place from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the historic school located at 291 S. Harrington Road on St. Simons Island, 912.634.0330. ssiheritagecoalition.org
