Turtle Crawl Weekend and Sea Turtle Release 2018

Since 2003, Jekyll Island has hosted the Turtle Crawl, a set of races benefiting the Georgia Sea Turtle Center (GSTC). Jekyll Island's picturesque oceanfront and maritime forest are settings for 2 triathlons, the International Distance and the Sprint Distance Triathlon, both sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Returning for 2018, a 10K race and a 5K race provide race fun for the whole family. All races are timed and take place on certified courses. From elite, world-class athletes to running novices, the Turtle Crawl races offer something for everyone.

Kick things off Friday afternoon with a turtle release at Great Dunes Beach, just north of the Jekyll Island Convention Center. The release will happen promptly at 4pm, so come early and remember to bring your hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, and a friend or two! This is a great experience to share!

Event schedule: 

Friday, May 11 - noon-7pm - Race Expo at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. New location includes packet pick-up, food trucks, sponsors, and race vendors. We highly recommend picking up your packet prior to race morning. No new triathlon registrations are accepted on race weekend. 

Saturday, May 12 

7am International Distance Triathlon

7:30am Sprint Distance Triathlon

Location - Great Dunes Park 

2-7pm Packet pick-up for Sunday races (location to be provided)

Sunday, May 13

7am 10K

7:15am 5K

Location - Both races start near the Jekyll Island Convention Center electronic sign and run along Beachview Drive. Race will finish at Great Dunes Park
