First Friday festivities in November include special activities and a focus on veterans. 5:30pm opening ceremony with a fly-over by United States Navy Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 60. The "Jaguars" out of Jacksonville tactically employ 7 MH-60R Seahawk helicopters at sea and ashore in the execution of HSM missions consisting of anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, electronic warfare, search and rescue, vertical replenishment, and airborne use of force. Great chance for you to see and show your kiddos something really cool! There will also be a kids area with arts and crafts and an early appearance by Santa Claus as they make Christmas cards for 3ID soldiers currently deployed to Poland. Talented local artist Charlotte Harrell will be with us doing awesome children's pencil sketches! Pet Costume Contest begins at 6pm with the top three Pet Costume Contest winners receiving a cash prize in addition to a voucher for a Pet Portrait by the talented Alec Eaton. The Vets & Their Pets Parade starts down Newcastle Street at 6:30pm and everyone is invited to join!
