The Symphony Society, Cabaret Chairs and Committee Members invite you to come celebrate
the centennial of the Roaring Twenties and the Jazz Age at Cabaret 2020. This annual signature event benefiting The Coastal Symphony of Georgia will be a Gatsby Gala that takes place in The Cloister Ballroom on Sea Island, Friday, January 24th. Don the festive attire of the era (tuxes optional) and join in the revelry at this intimate affair.
The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction. This will allow guests to sip champagne while they mix and mingle and peruse the many items offered for bidding, including exquisite art and jewelry that Daisy would have thought was divine. After greetings are exchanged and libations are poured, a seated dinner will be served.
“The bar is in full swing, and floating rounds of cocktails permeate the garden outside, until the air is alive with chatter and laughter, and casual innuendo and introductions forgotten on the spot, and enthusiastic meetings between women who never knew each other's names.” ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

A Live Auction of unique experiences will be held with Keenan Carter and Dave Snyder acting as Auctioneers. One of the featured packages is a one-week stay in beautiful southern Tuscany.
Enjoy the Tuscan Dream in a two-bedroom villa in the ancient hilltop town of Manciano. The Honorary Chair of this year’s event is local treasure and patron of the arts Mildred Huie Wilcox, a woman who is no stranger to opulent ballrooms and glamorous galas.
You’re urged to bid generously on the fabulous items offered at auction. Funds raised here allow the Symphony to continue to offer world-class musical performances under talented conductor and artistic director Michelle Merrill.
“The lights grow brighter as the earth lurches away from the sun, and now the orchestra is playing yellow cocktail music, and the opera of voices pitches a key higher. Laughter is easier minute by minute, spilled with prodigality, tipped out at a cheerful word. The groups change more swiftly, swell with new arrivals, dissolve and form in the same breath….” ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

The entertainment for the evening will be JAZZ, JAZZ, JAZZ performed by the Jordan Gilman Septet. Not to be confused with the lovely ladies seen here, the septet of professional musicians and Symphony members was assembled as a group for this event due to their jazz talents. Jordan Gilman will provide vocals and play the saxophone, while Alexander Hernandez will take double-duty on clarinet and tenor saxophone. For the brass section, Greg Balut will be on trumpet and Diego Herrada adds trombone. Aaron Lehrian will tickle the keys on piano, while percussion is provided by Luis Ocasio, and Stan Piper picks up the bass line. Their repertoire will feature familiar tunes from Gatsby’s era to modern day jazz.
You won’t want to miss this incandescent evening that recreates “the era of wonderful nonsense.” Tickets are $180 per person and space is limited. To purchase or for more information, visit coastalsymphonyofgeorgia.org or contact Cabaret 2020 Co-Chair Sharon Flores at 912.223.6755. Prepare to dance!
