The deadline for applying to Marsh’s Edge, a Life Plan Retirement Community-sponsored writing competition, is approaching. Marsh's Edge's parent company, Senior Living Communities, has spent the last 12 years sponsoring local high school seniors through the Silver Pen Writing Competition. Submissions are due on Sunday, February 16, at 11:59 pm, and must include a 1,000-word essay on the 2025 topic: Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others. How has this improved your life? The top two essays will receive awards toward their post-graduation plans, with first place, earning $2,500, and second place $1,250.
It is also a unique opportunity for Members to give back to the local area and its students by being on The Silver Pen Committee. The Silver Pen Committee plays a significant role by collaborating in selecting an essay topic, evaluating each submission, and then presenting the awards to the winning students at an awards ceremony.
Submissions for the 2025 Silver Pen Award are coming to a close on Sunday, February 16. The award ceremony will take place in the spring. Be sure to get your essays in! For the full rules and to submit the essay, visit Silverpen-SLC.com/
