For almost a quarter of a century, Frederica Academy has hosted a celebration of Churchill Downs’ storied horse race as its signature fundraiser. Synonymous with spring on St. Simons Island, Derby Day offers an unforgettable afternoon of Southern charm, thrilling races, spirited community, and fun philanthropy. This year’s 23rd annual Frederica Academy Derby Day, co-chaired by Susan & Patrick Dunn and Abigail & Charles Hoover, takes place on Saturday, May 3rd at Sea Island Retreat Clubhouse. Joining Sea Island as a Presenting Sponsor for the social event of the season is Beachview Event Rentals & Design.
Derby Day 2024
The day’s festivities include the high-stakes thrill of the simulcast of the 151st run for the roses at the Kentucky Derby, live entertainment, a hat parade, raffle, and exciting auctions, all supporting the students and programs of Frederica Academy. To tantalize the tastebuds there will also be delicious Derby-inspired culinary creations and refreshing mint juleps.
Even if you can’t be there in person, you can still participate in the excitement by bidding in the online silent auction or purchasing raffle tickets. Items up for bid in the silent auction can be accessed via the event website and will be available for online bidding from Sunday, April 27, through the event on May 3. All bidding on live auction packages will take place in person during the event.
