The 44th Season of the Coastal Symphony of Georgia is going to be the biggest yet—literally! With their move to the new Coastal College of Georgia Center for the Arts, they not only have a space that accommodates more musicians and more to offer acoustically, but more than double the seating capacity of their previous venue. According to Executive Director Mallory Meutzel, the increased stage space means there can be as many as 70+ musicians and choir members, as compared to the 40 or so that have typically performed. She also says that the concerts were planned with requests from the community in mind—from Star Wars to Beethoven’s Ninth, it’s going to be out of this world! 

October 5, 2026: Of Planets and Stars Far, Far, Away

Conductor and Music Director Michelle Merrill says, “We’ll start with a bang!” In the Symphony’s opening concert, Gustav Holst’s mighty score to The Planets meets John Williams' Star Wars, combining orchestral power and cinematic adventure in one night.

November 17, 2026: Sea, Land, and Victory

The concert will embrace connect themes of nature with music, featuring Wagner's Flying Dutchman Overture, the world premiere of Coastal Concerto by Elizabeth Kelly (who grew up in the Golden Isles), and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5. 

February 15, 2027: Seasons of Sound: From Mozart to Glass

Internationally acclaimed violinist Yevgeny Kutik will join the Symphony for Philip Glass's Violin Concerto No. 2, which will be featured alongside Mozart's Symphony No. 41 highlighting old and new, side by side.

April 12, 2027: Beethoven's Ninth

By popular demand, the season will close with Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. This showcase of instrumental and choral forces is a timeless symbol of joy that has a way of staying with you long after the last note.
