Because our website calendar doesn't like events that last more than a day and often fails to display them properly, we're going to keep a running list of ART EXHIBITIONS & EVENTS right here with "Artie," the paint-splattered pooch as our mascot. Scroll through to see ongoing displays at our local galleries, followed by special art events we have listed by date.

June 10-July 11 - BALANCE AND GROWTH - featuring Bold Acrylic Abstracts and Bronze Cold Cast Sculptures by contemporary artists Beth Sale and Brian Junghans. Sale, a painter from Athens, GA, uses symbols and geometry to create boldly colorful acrylic abstracts that represent human connections across time and distance. Junghans, from Norcross, GA, works in bronze cold cast sculpture to portray self-identity and a wide array of human emotion. These artists have not previously exhibited together.

Sale holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an undergraduate degree in arts from the University of Georgia. Sale has experience as a professor, was Director of Art Galleries at the University of North Georgia, and Curator at the Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens. Her works coming to GVA portray the usage of time and space, with “do-lists as bubbles of possibility for our lives.”
Junghans is originally from Madison, WI, and attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His sculptures began getting attention in Atlanta, GA in the mid 1990s after an article by Creative Loafi ng, a long-standing publication devoted to creatives and experiences in Atlanta. His expressive sculptures have shown in various galleries, art shows, and libraries in the Atlanta and the metro area.
