Because our website calendar doesn't like events that last more than a day and often fails to display them properly, we're going to keep a running list of ART EXHIBITIONS & EVENTS right here with "Artie," the paint-splattered pooch as our mascot. BRUNSWICK

Brunswick-Glynn County Library - 208 Gloucester Street

September exhibit: Works of the Contemporary Art Alliance of Georgia (CAAGA).

In order to fulfill its mission to meet the informational, educational, recreational, and cultural needs of our community, the Marshes of Glynn Libraries provide the public with access to a variety of exhibits and displays that may feature the work of outside individuals and groups. The central hallway of the Brunswick Library is a dedicated gallery space for this purpose. Drop in to see the exhibit during the First Thursday Downtown Brunswick Art Loop on September 3 from 5-7pm or during normal library hours. 

Historic Ritz Theatre - Wilcox Gallery - 1530 Newcastle Street

Through September 25: Growing, Art by Catherine Durrett will be on display in the Millie Wilcox Gallery. The exhibit will open, with the artist present, during the Brunswick Art Loop from 5-7pm on Thursday, August 6.

Catherine’s work is well-known throughout the community but with this exhibit, she explores new ideas and styles while still embracing a playful attitude.  Patrons will see some of her favorite artworks from the past through the current year and experience her “growing” as an artist. 

Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p. m. and during performances and events. Admission to all art exhibits in The Wilcox Gallery at the Ritz Theatre is free. SoGlo Theatre (1409 Newcastle Street)

On display in The Studio: Where Abstract Is The Focus by members of the Contemporary Art Alliance of Georgia (CAAGA). CAAGA’s mission is to foster, create and present abstract and contemporary art, particularly in local communities where these forms are underrepresented. They are dedicated to artistic excellence and to supporting professional artists working in non-traditional styles. They strive to support the art-loving public through exhibitions, educational programming, and shared dialogue. Meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments while browsing for your next piece of art to add to your collection.

An opening reception for the exhibit will be held during Historic Downtown Brunswick's First Thursday Brunswick Art Loop on Thursday, September 3 from 5-7pm. 

ST. SIMONS ISLAND

Anderson Fine Art Gallery - 3309 Frederica Rd.

Works on display in Anderson Fine Art Gallery include an outstanding group of professional and emerging artists and offers landscapes, still life, and some non-representational works. Seasonal exhibitions complement their curated core collection of paintings and sculpture.

Anderson Studio Gallery - 100 Sylvan Drive, Suite 170

Anderson Studio Gallery, formerly known as the Artists Annex, located right around the corner from Anderson Fine Art Gallery, is now a remodeled gallery, featuring pop-up exhibits and is the location for the many workshops hosted by Anderson Fine Art Gallery. These workshops have been held for more than 15 years and are taught by professional artists from across the country who come to the island to instruct fellow painters. Students travel year-round to attend the studio and plein air workshops. Full workshop schedule can be found at workshopsonstsimonsisland.com and attached below. Artist Sherry Egger also offers private instruction by appointment in the studio.

Glynn Visual Arts - 106 Island Drive

On display through September 4: Holding Space: Glimpses of the Divine, a new exhibition by Randy Siegel, brings together paintings and sculptural works that explore connection, longing, and the unseen threads that bind us. Siegel’s paintings serve as quiet portals—each one an invitation to pause, reflect, and sense the sacred within and around us. His three-dimensional “Bindings,” composed of fabric, rope, wire, thread, and intricate stitching, hold emotional tension and tenderness in equal measure—expressing yearning, love, and compassion through texture and form. A conceptual art installation, Unanswered Prayers, invites visitors to offer expressions of gratitude, praise, or petition, reframing prayer not as a transaction, but as a relationship. Often described as creating “postcards from the psyche,” Siegel draws on Jungian psychology, spirituality, and outsider art to awaken imagination, stir emotion, and deepen connection to self, others, and the Sacred. 

Opening September 1 in the Ben & Ella Cart Classroom: THE BIG PHOTO SHOW annual juried show by the Coastal Photographers Guild. Exhibit will be on display through September 30. An opening reception will be held Tuesday, September 1 from 5:30-7pm. 

Opening September 10 in the Wilcox Gallery: Bold and Beautiful: A Celebration of Color and Metal

Glynn Visual Arts (GVA) presents the art of painter Louise Hooper and metal sculptor Dr. Johnny L. Evans, Jr, who is President of College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA) in Bold and Beautiful: A Celebration of Color and Metal. Hooper and Evans have been colleagues and friends through an initial business acquaintance at the College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA). Now, in their artistic journeys, they have come together to share their expressive flowing styles in two very different mediums. 

Both Evans and Hooper have been practicing their art forms in earnest for the past 20 years. Evans, who holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry, is fascinated and inspired by the contrast of symmetry and chaos found in nature. His background in fabricating metal instrumentation eventually evolved into a passion for sculpting in steel, copper, brass, and wood. “From the rugged oak trees of my Georgia roots to the fluid elegance of coastal sea life—my sculptures translate mathematical beauty into tangible, inspiring forms,” said Evans.

Hooper is known for her use of vibrant colors. Her trademark is to work quickly in an impressionistic style while capturing the energy and motion found in everyday moments. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drawing and painting from the University of Georgia and has studied under local fine artists Jeanne Szabo (deceased), Ken Wallin, Janet Powers, and others both locally and internationally. She is a co-founder of ArtTrends Gallery on St. Simons Island, GA, and her work is represented there as well as at Oaks on the River Resort in Darien, GA.

The public is invited to attend a free opening reception on Thursday, September 10, from 5:30-7pm.

Golden Isles CVB Welcome Center - Live Oak Shop - 529 Beachview Drive

Nestled within the Golden Isles Welcome Center, the Live Oak Shop is a thoughtfully curated gallery boutique celebrating the natural beauty and timeless charm of the Golden Isles. Featuring original works, as well as matted and framed prints by acclaimed local and regional artists, the collection captures the landscapes, light, and coastal spirit of the Golden Isles. Whether you're a seasoned collector or seeking a meaningful memento, the Live Oak Shop offers elegant, artful expressions of place.

Julep Gallery - 600 Shops at Sea Island, Suite 17 

A colorfully curated art gallery. Everyone is welcome to visit. Open 11am-5pm Tuesday-Friday and 11am-3pm Saturday.

Savion Fine Art Gallery - 20 Market Street, Suite 104 

Fine art gallery featuring over 15 internationally collected artists as well as one-of-a-kind jewelry designs by Frank Reubel.

Gallery open from 11am-7pm Monday-Thursday, 11am-8pm Friday & Saturday, 11am-6pm Sunday. 

JEKYLL ISLAND 

Jekyll Island Art Association - Goodyear Cottage - Historic District

Opening September 1: Potpourri, an eclectic exhibit of works by 16 local professional artists who are members of the Georgia Coastal Artists Guild. The exhibition runs through September 30. Opening Reception Sunday, September 6, 1-3pm

Gallery hours are noon - 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Saturday & Sunday. Admission is free.

Opening Reception for Potpourri, an eclectic exhibit of works by 16 local professional artists who are members of the Georgia Coastal Artists Guild. Goodyear Cottage in Jekyll Island's Historic District, 1-3pm. 

Thursday, September 10

Glynn Visual Arts hosts an Opening Reception for Bold and Beautiful: A Celebration of Color and Metal, featuring the art of painter Louise Hooper and metal sculptor Dr. Johnny L. Evans, Jr (President of College of Coastal Georgia). The public is invited to attend this free community event from 5:30-7pm.

Saturday & Sunday, September 26-27

The 57th Annual Art Under the Oaks Fine Art Festival will feature over 60 juried talented artists and skilled artisans from around the region set up in Postell Park in the Village on St. Simons Island. Showcasing an impressive and eclectic collection of handmade artwork, the festival will include a wide variety of two and three dimensional art, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics, photography, textiles, wood, metal and glass. Free and open to the public. Hours: 10am-5pm Saturday & Sunday
