Joining the Blue Angels for the show will be the F-22 Raptor Team. The F-22 Raptor, one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world, will showcase its unparalleled maneuverability and stealth capabilities. The U.S. Air Force's premier 5th generation fighter aircraft, the Raptor combination of stealth, supercruise ability, extreme maneuverability, and integrated avionics represents an exponential leap in warfighting capabilities. The Raptor performs both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions that are vital to the 21st-century Air Force.
The Army Golden Knights, the U.S. Army’s premier parachute demonstration team, will captivate spectators with their daring skydiving performances. The demonstration team, made up of 26 soldiers, serves as aerial ambassadors, showcasing the teamwork and precision emblematic of our U.S. Army’s fearless servicemen and women.
This will be the first air show to return to the Golden Isles since 2017, making it a historic and much-anticipated event. Brunswick Golden Isles Airport, which once served as a Navy base, originally established during World War II as NAS Glynco. The airfield was a key training center for naval aviators and played a vital role in military operations protecting the U.S coastline from enemy submarines. The Glynn County Airport Commission looks at this event as a way to honor the airfield’s rich heritage, connecting the past with the present. Executive Director Robert Burr shared his enthusiasm about the event, stating, "We are thrilled to bring the air show back to the Golden Isles. This event is a celebration of aviation, community, and history."
This year’s show will host local talent taking center stage. The Air Boss for the event, Wayne Boggs, is a Glynn Academy graduate with a distinguished career spanning over 20 years in air show operations. With decades of experience in both military and civilian aviation, Boggs is widely respected in the air show industry, recognized as one of the top Air Bosses in the country. A former air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he served as Chief of Staff for a major directorate, Wayne is both an honorary Blue Angel and an honorary Thunderbird. Wayne says returning here to work the Air Show is an especially meaningful experience for him, "It’s an incredible honor to return to my hometown and help put on such an exciting show. Seeing the Blue Angels perform at an airport with such strong naval history is truly special." Wayne’s expertise ensures that it will be a seamless and exhilarating experience for spectators as well.
Joining the lineup of incredible civilian aerobatic performers is Patty Wagstaff, a native of Camden County and a three-time U.S. National Aerobatic Champion. Known for her jaw-dropping maneuvers, Patty’s performance is sure to leave the crowd in awe. Patty will be in great company with Micheal Goulian, one of North America’s most decorated aerobatic pilots and recognized aviation professionals, as well as U.S. Congressman Sam Graves who will be taking to the air in a vintage WWII Curtiss P-40 Warhawk. The civilian line up will also include Tom Larkin, Bob Carlton, Matt Younkin, Jeff Shetterly, Louis Hoeschi (Jack of Aces), RJ Gritter and more.
