The annual St. Simons Land Trust Oyster Roast is without a doubt one of the best ways to start the year in the Golden Isles. Hundreds of island residents and visitors gather around shucking tables to enjoy oysters roasted to perfection and visit other tables under the oaks to sample delicious fare that includes Low Country Boil and specialties from local restaurants. Live music by Jamie Renee and the Walkers helped keep the crowd in high spirits as the evening progressed, and we can guarantee that nobody went home hungry. With the help of legions of volunteers, the St. Simons Land Trust makes this an event to remember each and every year.
