The community gathered in Neptune Park on Memorial Day to honor not only the men and women who have fallen in the service of our country, but those who have valiantly served and returned, and those who serve today. Taps at Twilight, presented by the St. Simons Rotary Club since 1991, is an island Memorial Day tradition, This year's program included patriotic music performed by The Golden Isles Community Concert Band, honor guard and memorial wreath presentations. Guest speaker Colonel Aaron L.B. Cox, Chief of Staff, 3rd Infantry Division, United States Army gave the keynote address. Following the retirement of the colors, the ceremony concluded with the playing of “Taps.”
