The Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Cedric King has taken the helm as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Nigel Brown is the new Director of Membership Services. Cedric takes over for Michael Scherneck, former CEO of Southeast Georgia Health System, who served as Chairman from 2021-2022. A local business owner with businesses located in Brunswick and Darien, Cedric is also a Benefits Consultant with Lighthouse Benefit Advisors on St. Simons Island, serves on many community boards, and has been recognized on numerous occasions by various organizations for outstanding service to the community. He has years of experience, knowledge, and work in Business Development and served on the Board of Directors as Vice Chair of Internal Affairs and Chairman Elect in 2021-2022. He is the first African American to serve in Chairman role in the history of the Chamber of Commerce.

Nigel Brown assumes the role of Director of Membership Services, with duties that include providing excellent membership customer service, leading the Chamber Ambassador Program and the Small Business Committee in charge of selecting the Small Business of the Month Awards. He will represent the Chamber of Commerce at membership events, community meetings, and functions. Nigel has an extensive background in higher education, workforce development, and business. When asked about what excites him the most in his new role at the Chamber he shared, “Glynn County has a large amount of projected growth and I’m excited about exploring ways we can help the community grow and prosper.”
