Textures, an Art Show by Mandy Thompson will take place in the auditorium at the Brunswick-Glynn County Library during First Friday. The works of abstract expressionism are acrylic on various backings and depict abstract concepts, local scenes, and still life. Mandy’s signature style of bright high contract colors with heavy textures brings together the hope and mess of life. This is her debut show and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Mandy says about her work:
If you look closely, you will see broken and beat up layers behind much of my work. Having faced a few painful circumstances, I have come to see the beauty hidden among brokenness. This broken beauty is an unmistakable theme in my work. My pieces reach beyond abstract art and fashionable colors, to bring a message of harmony, reconciliation, and hope.
My message is this: Life is not without pain, but it is also not without beauty.
When you look at my work, I invite you to take a look at your own life--at your own cracked and smeared messes. I believe you will see beauty even there.
