July is always the Best Of issue, so I guess it's fitting that I recently went to see what is arguably the best rock & roll band of all time: The Rolling Stones. Or, if you're over 50 and "hip,” you just call them The Stones.
It seems like they've been around forever. The Rolling Stones started playing the year I was born: 1962. Watching a bunch of 70 year olds jamming live onstage in front of 40,000 screaming fans was amazing.
As I watched Mick Jagger wooing every female at the concert during The Stones’ classic tune "Satisfaction,” I thought, “Dang! How come my high school guidance counselor didn't tell me about this career?!” I guess the fact that I can't sing or play an instrument might have something to do with it. But then again, I can't write, yet I have a magazine.
But if Mick Jagger is still rocking and performing like this at 72, there may be hope for me yet. I do sing a mean karaoke version of "Heartbreak Hotel" by Elvis!
Thank you. Thank you verra much.
