Add a little “green” to red, white and blue this Independence Day holiday and help keep the Golden Isles clean, green and beautiful by joining Keep Golden Isles Beautiful’s 2nd annual July 5th beach sweep, sponsored by Yamaha RIGHTWATERS. Volunteers meet at the St. Simons Island Old Coast Guard Station beach crossover at 8am on Monday, July 5th to sign in and receive supplies (trash bags and gloves provided). VOLUNTEER T-SHIRTS AVAILABLE WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.
Volunteers will concentrate on possible litter left over from Fourth of July nighttime merry-making. “While fireworks are prohibited on Glynn County beaches, volunteers will be prepared to remove eventhe smallest pieces of fireworks debris, preventing possible marine debris that can be harmful to marine life,” said KGIB executive director Lea King-Badyna.
Several major public access points will also be tackled in the effort. All ages and abilities are welcome to participate.
