National Trails Day gets underway early at Cannon's Point on June 3. The preserve celebrates with special hours 7am-3pm and a selection of programs for all ages and interests.
7 a.m. Photography Tour - Meet with Marti Jeffers at the south end area to shoot in the early morning sunshine, then hike to the north end to shoot the plantation ruins while the light is still favorable.
7 a.m. Birding on a Barrier Island - Bob Sattelmeyer brings his expertise to your early morning bird watching around the preserve.
10 a.m. History Hike - Join Myrna Crook on this hike to learn the history of Cannon's Point from the time of the Native Americans to the Couper plantation era to the conservation focus of the 21st century.
10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. Southern Area Tours -- Land Trust volunteers introduce you to the flora, fauna, and history of Cannon's Point.
1:30 p.m. Marine Exploration -- Kids of all ages, meet Susan Shipman at the dock to identify and discuss the marine creatures who dwell at Cannon's Point.
