Because our website calendar doesn't like events that last more than a day and often fails to display them properly, we're going to keep a running list of ART EXHIBITIONS & EVENTS right here with "Artie," the paint-splattered pooch as our mascot. Scroll through to see ongoing displays at our local galleries, followed by special art events we have listed by date.

Hotel Simone - 1200 Ocean Boulevard
Suzanne Scaglione is the current Artist in Residency at Hotel Simone in partnership with Glynn Visual Arts (GVA). For many years, Suzanne's creative outlet had been in the food industry. She was Manager of the Restaurant at the Continuing Education Center at Appalachian State University, worked at several fine restaurants in North arolina and Atlanta, owned a restaurant in Blowing Rock, North Carolina and in Brunswick Georgia and had a catering business on Saint Simons Island for 20 years. About 15 years ago a friend suggested they take a drawing class at Glynn Visual Arts. Suzanne then tried colored pencil, watercolor, and finally settled on acrylic as her medium of choice. Suzanne's catering business was her main creative outlet, but she managed to fit in painting whenever she could. After retiring, she found that trying new techniques, adding the unexpected, and just having fun following an idea to see where it takes her, makes each painting an adventure.
A 'Meet the Artist' reception is planned for Thursday, July 25th in the hotel's lobby from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., and all members of the community are invited to attend. Hotel Simone’s new operations manager Virginia Hall will be present to offer guided tours of the hotel suites and common areas. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.
