Golden Isles beaches
The readers of Travel + Leisure have ranked the Golden Isles of Georgia number one in the Top Islands in the Continental U.S. category of the publication’s 2020 World’s Best Awards. Each year, Travel + Leisure, the largest travel media brand in the U.S., with an audience of 6.7 million, invites its readers to share their thoughts on destinations, hotels, resorts, spas, airlines, and more in this annual survey. The ratings were based on the following characteristics: natural attractions/beaches, activities/sights, restaurants/food, people/friendliness, and value. Each year for the past five years, the Golden Isles has been listed as a top contender for the World’s Best Islands. This is the first year the area has been chosen as the number one island destination.
No one could be more pleased than the Golden Isles Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), the
official destination marketing organization dedicated to promoting tourism in Golden Isles of Georgia. “The Golden Isles CVB is incredibly pleased and excited to share this announcement with our entire community, our visitors, and those who work diligently to contribute to the area’s success,” said Scott McQuade, president and CEO of the Golden Isles CVB. “This award is so meaningful in the travel industry, and to achieve this number one ranking is an accomplishment we can all be very proud of.”
This award comes at a much-needed time following the disruption and temporary restriction on travel earlier this year due to COVID-19. The CVB is confident this new accolade will introduce new visitors to the area and will reinvigorate past visitors who may not have traveled to the area recently. “We take great pride in sharing the beauty, genuine hospitality and lure of the Golden Isles with those looking for a unique and authentic vacation destination,” said McQuade. “We hope the announcement of this major international award brings a boost of interest to the area, and we are always excited to welcome new visitors to this special place.”
