Candlelight Carnival 2.0
Last fall, EIL joined with the Golden Isles Career Academy Foundation to bring the very first Candlelight Carnival to the Golden Isles. This year, the event planning committee includes Golden Isles Career Academy CEO Rick Townsend, Natasha Williams, of Soca Communications, LLC, the staff and faculty of the Career Academy, the Career Academy Foundation’s Board of Directors and countless volunteers from the local business community. They’re excited to bring you the 2nd Annual Candlelight Carnival evening of fun in a whole new venue!
The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m., when guests arrive at Sea Palms Golf and Tennis Resort and enter the festive and breezy beer garden. Sip a refreshing cocktail while listening to the smooth styles of local acoustic diva Kellie Parr. Bring out your inner child and act like a kid at the fair, playing the booth games built by Career Academy students that could win you an array of cash and prizes.
Check out the silent auction tables inside and out, then step inside the main ballroom where Mason Waters will emcee a live auction that will include exciting packages and unique items on which to bid such as a wine pairing and dinner and luxury accommodations at popular destinations.
Dance the night away, and play exciting fun adult games of chance while enjoying fun and tasty “fair” treats, like mini funnel cakes with an assortment of toppings and fresh cotton candy. The barbeque-themed dinner menu will include a full buffet with a pork carving station, chicken, beef and veggie kabobs fresh off the grill, sweet potato chips, and so much more.
More than 175 guests attended last year’s inaugural event at Frederica Boathouse – resulting in the Golden Isles Career Academy Foundation raising almost $25,000 to support the Career Academy in providing quality education in a charter school environment.
The mission of the Golden Isles Career Academy (GICA) is to develop this community’s best and brightest local students and provide employment opportunities to keep them in the Golden Isles or prepare them to go beyond. In an era where competition to get into college is greater, standards are higher, and skilled trade workers are in high demand, GICA provides opportunities for hands-on career training that traditional high schools cannot.
The Golden Isles Career Academy Foundation serves as an advocate within the Golden Isles to further the goals of the Career Academy, which includes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. The Foundation supports rigorous coursework, development of a strong work ethic and the acquisition of specific skills in a state of the art environment. In supporting the Career Academy, The Foundation is guided by the vision established by founding members and stakeholders within the Glynn County business community.
The Candlelight Carnival Fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, October 18th - from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Sea Palms Golf and Tennis Resort. Tickets are $125 and can be purchased online at candlelightcarnival.com.
