On Wednesday, June 26, at 6 p.m., at the A.W. Jones Heritage Center, Director of Public Programming Allison Dupuis will present “100 Years of Celebrating Connection: Imagining, Building, and Keeping the F.J. Torras Causeway.” Previously presented at the College of Coastal Georgia in May, this program looks at the history of the F.J. Torras Causeway, the individuals behind its construction, and its impact on the Golden Isles since its construction a century ago. June 26 also marks exactly 100 years since the official opening of the causeway to car traffic in 1924.
The program, presented as a portion of a community-wide partnership led by the Torras Foundation, is free and open to the public. Seats can be reserved on EventBrite. It will be presented in person and via livestream, and will provide details about the upcoming Causeway Centennial Celebration on July 13, 2024.
